Almost four months prior to the annual 2007 Offshore Technology Conference, Tesco - a global leader in the design, manufacture and service of technology-based solutions for the upstream energy industry - invited Advent to submit a design for the company's new booth to be showcased at OTC. Tesco was looking for an exhibit that was both creative and functional; something that would leave its customers and competitors awe-struck. Marketing Director Cristi Harrington wanted something with an "industrial look and an open feel, that would stand out among all the other booths at OTC." A tall order, considering there are more than 2,400 exhibiting companies from 30 countries.
Advent - Houston 's only true full-service marketing communications firm - was not alone in the running to bring the business forward. Tesco explored its options with several marketing agencies, who also pitched ideas and concepts in the hopes of garnering the business.
However, after careful review of several design firms,
Tesco selected Advent's proposal and asked us to build
the booth to be exhibited in the oil and gas industry's
most significant tradeshow.
Our creative team knew that Tesco wanted something unique, nothing boring,
which led to some of the most innovative design work Tesco
had ever seen. To achieve the "industrial" look
and feel the company requested, our design included steel
beams. While the layout and image was perfect on paper,
it posed a bit of a challenge to build. Steel would
be heavy, cumbersome and inflexible.
After much research, we were able to propose a viable, more cost-effective alternative: Fiberglass beams gave the illusion of steel, was lighter-weight and very flexible. The use of this material was not only extremely cost-effective, but also worked perfectly for drilling, mounting and transporting the exhibit to the show. In addition, it was a first for OTC exhibits.
Advent's talented production and fabrication teams were able to create a unique design, and bring the concept to life on the show floor. After much hard work and tremendous dedication, Tesco was ready to show off their new look! Attendees, customers and competitors alike marveled at the extraordinary exhibit.
